Hi!

I am Neha, a PhD student in the Helfrich Lab at the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research, advised by Randolph Helfrich. I am part of the IMPRS-MMFD and the Graduate Training Center of Neuroscience graduate programs at the University of Tübingen.

Before joining the Helfrich Lab, I completed my Master's degree in Computational Physics at Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté. During this time, I worked with David Viennot at OSU THETA, and later spent time at the Charité Comprehensive Cancer Center, where I completed my master's thesis with Adrián Granada in the Granada Lab. I also spent time as a research intern in the Rolfs Lab at Humboldt University Berlin, working with Martin Rolfs.

This fall (2026), I will be a visiting researcher at the Wu Tsai Institute at Yale University. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect and talk some science.

I am currently looking for postdoctoral positions starting in mid-2027.

Research

I am fascinated by how cognition emerges from the collective dynamics of neural populations. How does information flow through distributed cortical networks, and how is it transformed into thoughts, decisions, and actions? In my PhD, I use intracranial electrophysiological recordings (iEEG) and statistical modeling to study neural population activity across the human cortex. I am especially interested in whether structured patterns of activity, often described as neural subspaces or neural manifolds, provide a framework for understanding how the brain represents, transforms, and routes information flexibly. You can read more about my work in the publications section.
